About

I am a cloud and software engineer with a strong focus on cloud-native architectures, fog/edge computing and backend development. I recently completed my MSc in Cloud Computing from the National College of Ireland, where I worked on real-time IoT systems and optimization-based scheduling for fog environments.

My recent work includes building an IoT-based smart retail monitoring system using Azure IoT Hub and iFogSim, and designing a hybrid BCO–PSO algorithm for load balancing in fog computing. I enjoy working end-to-end: from architecture diagrams and infrastructure as code to APIs, monitoring and performance optimisation.

Skills

Cloud & DevOps

  • AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway)
  • Azure (IoT Hub, Functions, Storage)
  • Docker, Kubernetes basics
  • GitHub Actions CI/CD

Backend & Data

  • Java, Python
  • REST APIs, JSON, HTTP
  • SQL fundamentals

Featured Projects

Hybrid BCO–PSO Fog Scheduling

Research project where I designed a hybrid Bacterial Colony Optimization and Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm to balance load across fog nodes and minimise makespan for task scheduling.

  • Implemented in Python with MEALPY
  • Compared against baseline BCO and PSO
  • Focused on fog computing workloads

Smart Retail Monitoring (IoT + Fog)

End-to-end smart retail system using sensors (temperature, humidity, people counter, camera, smoke) with both Azure IoT Hub and iFogSim2 simulations to compare cloud vs fog performance.

  • Implemented sensor emulation in Python
  • Designed fog architecture and deployment flows
  • Measured latency, cost and energy metrics

CloudKart – Cloud-Native E-commerce

Personal learning project designing a scalable e-commerce architecture on AWS using best-practice cloud design patterns and CI/CD pipelines.

  • API-driven microservice-style design
  • Focus on resiliency and observability
  • GitHub Actions pipeline concept
